Winner to be announced at UK Technology Innovation and Growth 2008 Awards, London, 18th March

Lincoln, UK, 13th February 2008 – Smartbunker, the UK’s first zero carbon data centre, today announced that managing director, Kelly Smith, has been named as a finalist in the ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ category of the UK Technology Innovation and Growth 2008 Awards. The winner of the award, now in its ninth year, will be announced at a ceremony to take place at the London Hilton Metropole on the evening of 18th March.
Kelly Smith commented, “Many aspects of IT are now being delivered to end-users through an Internet connection, with the systems themselves hosted and managed centrally. We recognise that this growth market requires additional enterprise-class hosting facilities in the UK. However, IT has been recognised as a significant contributor to climate change through the electricity that it consumes. We have worked very hard and invested a lot of resource to create Smartbunker, a facility that reconciles excellent IT services with environmental sensitivity, and are delighted to have had our investment recognised in this way. I look forward to the awards ceremony.”
The UK Technology Innovation and Growth 2008 Awards recognise those individuals and organisations that drive the success of the UK’s fastest growing technology companies. Award nominations are individually judged according to stipulated criteria and go through an exhaustive investigation process. Over the last nine years these awards have become one of the most coveted accolades within the industry.
